Darker makeup for night time

I've always wanted to do a darker look whenever I'm going out but unfortunately I don't always go out at night where darker shades are more 'acceptable'. So I normally limit the amount of makeup I put on my face during the daytime. Anyhoos there wasn't much to do around the house a few afternoons ago so I grabbed my makeup brush and started painting my face.

Haha I can't help but take the before and after picture! I find it pretty amusing to see if there's any difference before and after I apply makeup.
This time around I used scotch tape for that sharp edge.

What I used for the eye makeup:

1) MAC Paint Pot in Blackground
- Used this as my base

2) Urban Decay Naked Palette Buck Eyeshadow
- Used above no. 3

3) MAC Venomous Villain My Dark Magic Eyeshadow
- I applied the dark pink shade on top of Blackground

4) NYX Ultra Pearl Mania in Pearl
- Inner corner highlight

On my face:

1) The Body Shop Tinted Glow Enhancer
- I got this eons ago and still love it very very much! It gives off this super pretty glow to your skin without looking too shimmery. I used this to highlight my cheekbones!

2) Garnier Light BB Eye Roll on
- Under eye concealer

3) L'Oreal True Match Foundation in Golden Vanilla

4) MAC blush in Fleur Power

5) MAC MSF Sunny in Nature
- I love this product!! I like that it's not too dark so I can use it all over my face as a bronzer without worrying about it making me look sun burnt! But this time I just used it to lightly contour my face especially around the erm.. double chin area lol

On my lips I'm wearing the ever trustable Revlon ColorBurst lipstick in Peach!

Revlon Grow Luscious Lash Liner in Emerald

If you don't already know I am really liking the Revlon Grow Luscious Lash Liners. They are extremely creamy and easy to slide on. I especially like the brown one for daytime use but I picked this up too because I don't have anything like this!

Revlon Grow Luscious Lash Liner in Emerald

Unlike the brown and black liner from the range, this one has gold glitters in them and they are so super gorgeous! I feel like this is made for nights when you're going out with your friends to a party or something. Very glam-ish color to use lol

Decided to play around with it and here's what I came up with. I went with plum colors as my eyeshadow and paired them with Emerald on my lower lash line. If only they came out with more colors for this range because I really like the formulation of these! I find that they smudge a little after a while because they are really quite creamy so what I normally do is bring this out with me when I'm out and about and just touch up when needed. If I'm lazy I'll just set the eyeliner with a green eyeshadow on top.

I'm using Stage's lipstick in Lavender Love. Think I went a little overboard on the blush haha coz they never seem to show up in my pictures so I piled them on this time around lol

Makeup gifts from Izzy and her sis!

Just wanna dedicate this post to the makeup gifts that I received from Izzy and her sister. I tried some of the makeup already and they are gorgeous! Not gonna say much, let the pictures do the talking! :D

MAC MSF in Smooth Merge, Stereo Rose and Sunny by Nature

I have always been fascinated by MAC's MSFs but I never get the chance to buy them because most of MAC MSFs are limited edition! I did manage to get hold of the permanent ones, Gold Deposit and Soft and Gentle but I wanted to try the rest too! Especially those blush colored and highlighters which comes out once in a while with a new collection. So these three are without a doubt precious to me! My precious... lol!

MAC Paint Pots in Rollickin', Blackground and Coral Crepe

I never own any Paint Pots before so I was super excited to try these! Many use them as a base but I think they can be used as eyeshadows as well.. right? Because I swatched these and once they dry it's so hard to get them off! I had to scrub my hands to remove the product. Very impressive. Me lavhs!
MAC Cremeblend blush in Joie-De-Vivre and Cream Color Base in Rich Coral

Tried the Cremeblend blush too and I love it! Seems like I'm loving everything so far haha but it's true! It looks a little peachy on the pan but when swatched it gives this super pretty pink colored blush!

Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel and Estee Lauder Golden Bronze Goddess

Finally know what the hype is all about in youtube because the Chanel bronzer is phenomenal! loves!!

MAC Pigment in Rose

One word. GORGEOUS!! When you see it in another light, the gold reflects the light and it is so naise I have no word that I can think of to describe it! Here lemme show you!

There you go lol Right, right?? I think this jar of pigment was hardly used too because it was literally filled to the top!

Clockwise: MAC Hello Kitty palette in Lucky Tom and Too Dolly, Victoria's Secret Bejeweled Eyes palette

Tried the MAC palettes and I especially like the lightest color from Lucky Tom, the yellow toned eyeshadow. It's so pigmented it's perfect for the inner corners of the eye as a highlight! The VS's palette I have yet to try and I can't wait! So that is all of the pictures of the makeup I got. I cannot imagine how much they're worth in total! Makes me shudder to think about it lol And I'm so grateful to be able to receive them as gifts! Izzy, rest assured all the makeup are in good hands lol Thanks so much!

My weekend + FOTD + OOTD!

This is prolly one of the best weekends I've ever had! Went out with the siblings to bsb for no particular reason except to window shop and we ended up meeting with Izzy and she gave me an insane amount of makeup that her sis and her doesn't use anymore! Before I get into that here are some shots from the day!

On my face:

Revlon Colorstay foundation in Early Tan + Skin79 Vital Orange BB Cream
NYX blush in Mocha
MAC MSF in Gold Deposit

On my face and lips:

Revlon Matte lipstick in Pink Pout
Eyeshadows from Original Sleek Palette and UD Naked 1
Revlon Grow Luscious Eyeliner in Onyx

 My OOTD

I don't usually wear leggings because jeans are easier to wear but I thought I could make an exception that day. My flats are from Hua Ho for only B$15! And it's quite comfy surprisingly.

Went to Fish and co. for the first time and erhmahgerd the serving sizes are huge!! All their fish and chips dishes look similar so I have no idea why they have different names when they are practically the same thing. I could be wrong, haven't tried them all after all. haha Maybe it's the dressing...

The best fish and chips in town

New York fish and chips

Garden salad! This is so easy to make but it costs like B$7++!

 One of the starters.

Stephen waiting for me to take the shot before digging in lol

Anyway, the restaurant is quite huge and it was packed with people we had to wait a few moments for an empty table. Then again it was lunch time. The higher spot was occupied by some members of the royal family when we were there and I think there were around 5 nurses who were with them and securities and stuff. When they finally leave everyone stops eating and stared at them like they are celebrities.

After the satisfying lunch we met up with Izzy!

Izzy and me!! :D

Digging into the bag of makeup goodies at Tutti Frutti! Can't help it I can't wait!

Here's the pic of the stuff which I instagrammed:

Still can't believe she and her sis gave me all of these!!

I'll write up a blog post on the items she gave in detail soon. They are all in very good condition and some seemed like they have never been used before! I am the luckiest girl in the whole wide world!
Thankyou thankyou thankyou!! :D I keep opening my makeup drawers and picking them up one by one just to stare at them and admire them and then starting all over again from the first item lol I need help. But I don't care coz they are gorgeous and I can't wait to try them out!!

My new haircut + FOTD

I initially wanted to grow my hair out this holiday just for fun but it started to annoy me so much! haha I think it's because it's always in my face and the drying time after a hair wash takes forever. So I cut off a good few inches and I decided to get some bangs as well because my hair has been parted to the side for years now and I figured I would get some bangs just for a change.

Before and after

The ends of my hair are super dry and damaged and my hair feels so much lighter and healthier after the haircut.

Before and after

I'm still not used to the bangs tbh! haha I rarely ever have bangs because I'm not sure if it fits my face shape or something like that. But since it's the holidays I went for it. I can always grow it out if I decided that it look horrible on me and by the time the new semester started I would have my normal side part again! Smart eh. lol

Anyways, here's a random FOTD from a couple of weeks before! It's what I normally wear on my eyes and face but with false lashes.

L'Oreal Base Magique Primer

I realise that nowadays it's becoming easier to find primers in stores here in Brunei. A few years back I was just starting to get interested in the use of primers and went around town to see if I could find one. I searched all over the place and just can't seem to find a store selling em! I remembered walking in to The Body Shop and asking if they sell primers and they look puzzled. ugh you have no idea how frustrating it was!

Luckily for me I found Laneige's Sebum Comtrol Primer which I am still loving very much! It's a little bit pricey though so I'd always be on the lookout for cheaper alternatives. Then I saw this at Guardian!

L'Oreal Base Magique Transforming Smoothing Primer

Description at the back of the box

Funnily enough I can't find this in the KB branch or even the Sg. Liang branch. My brother bought this for me from Seria's Guardian. Yes I have a younger brother who buys me makeup! #win If I'm not mistaken this retails for roughly B$25.

I wondered if this primer is similar to L'Oreal's Studio Secrets Primer because they seem to have the same packaging. Only the names are different.  I googled pictures of the Studio Secrets Primer and the color and texture from the pictures are similar to this Base Magique Primer! If so, I don't know why they would wanna give a different name to the same products but I digress...

L'Oreal Studio Secrets Professional primer. Def similar to the Base Magique Transforming Smoothing primer!

The texture of this primer is creamy and it's not the gel-like texture that many primers come in with. It takes little effort to blend into the skin and I find that it leaves my skin feeling pretty smooth! Applying primer always assures me that my skin is ready for foundation haha because I notice that my pores are more visible if I didn't apply a layer of primer on my face beforehand =/ I also like the fact that my foundation lasts a lot longer with the primer on and it also takes a longer period of time before my skin gets oily. I rarely ever put on my makeup without a primer. 9 times out of 10 I'd apply them.

What I'm trying to say is, primers are essential!!

I quite like that the L'Oreal Base Magique primer doesn't have a strong scent to it. I recently gave the Revlon Photoready primer (it's just released in Guardian along with the Revlon Photoready mousse foundation, go check them out!) a sniff and it smelled like Jacob biscuits! I kid you not!

This is definitely something I'd repurchase but I would probably give the Revlon Photoready primer a try too before I decide which is the one I'd like to use as a staple item.
