Skyfall's bond girl inspired look

I watched Skyfall a couple of weeks back with my siblings and ever since I watched it, the makeup look that bond girl Sévérine wore when she met Bond is stuck at the back of my mind! It doesn't help that beauty gurus all over youtube have been uploading makeup tutorials on the latest bond girl's makeup look. Yes, including Michelle Phan! However, my favorite out of all that I've watched is by beauty guru Chelsea aka xclosetoreal.

Bérénice Marlohe as Skyfall's bond girl, Sévérine

I was browsing Bérénice pictures and I noticed that she is always seen on the red carpet with her signature smokey eyes. Sometimes with a dark lips, and other times she left them nude. Either way, she looks stunning!

 Chelsea's tutorial

I decided to try out this tutorial which luckily for me is pretty simple to follow but looked very put together like you've spent a good hour on it. Chelsea even opted to use makeup sponges at some point in the 3 minute tutorial instead of makeup brushes. I don't have any of the items that she used in the video so I compensated with the makeup that I currently have. It's fun racking through your makeup collection looking for shades you can use to recreate a look!

What I came up with in the end

Ok I have to admit part of the reason I wanted to do this look is because I wanted to use that lipstick lol

In the picture, her eye shape is elongated using a black shade and they had it exaggerated both at the inner corner of the eyes as well as the outer corner which is winged outward and upward. This somehow reminds me of the movie Black Swan. I have to say this look is pretty dramatic and is not something that I find comfortable enough to wear out, not even during the night time. Bérénice, on the other hand, really rocked those dark eyes + dark lips! If only I can look half as good as her!

On my eyes:

UD Naked palette eyeshadow in Creep,
Second darkest shade in Essence 'Over the taupe' quad,
Maybelline Volum' Express waterproof mascara,
Revlon Grow Luscious lashliner in Onyx,
MAC Paint Pot in Blackground

On my lips:

Revlon matte lipstick in Wine Not

On my face:

MAC blush in Desert Rose,
MAC MSF in Sunny by Nature,
MAC MSF in Gold Deposit,
SkinFood eyebrow powder cake,
Garnier Light BB Eye Roll-on,
Revlon PhotoReady concealer in Medium,
Essence Soft Touch Mousse in Matt Sand

Side note: So I've been watching a few episodes of That F Word on ClickNetwork recently and I think it's one of the best shows they've produced so far, if not the best. Others are nice too, like Budget Barbie, Tried and Tested, and also Chick vs. Dick which is darn hilarious but I personally like watching other people's thoughts on fashion and it's interesting to see what sort of styles are trending in another country. So thumbs up to That F Word!

Darker makeup for night time

I've always wanted to do a darker look whenever I'm going out but unfortunately I don't always go out at night where darker shades are more 'acceptable'. So I normally limit the amount of makeup I put on my face during the daytime. Anyhoos there wasn't much to do around the house a few afternoons ago so I grabbed my makeup brush and started painting my face.

Haha I can't help but take the before and after picture! I find it pretty amusing to see if there's any difference before and after I apply makeup.
This time around I used scotch tape for that sharp edge.

What I used for the eye makeup:

1) MAC Paint Pot in Blackground
- Used this as my base

2) Urban Decay Naked Palette Buck Eyeshadow
- Used above no. 3

3) MAC Venomous Villain My Dark Magic Eyeshadow
- I applied the dark pink shade on top of Blackground

4) NYX Ultra Pearl Mania in Pearl
- Inner corner highlight

On my face:

1) The Body Shop Tinted Glow Enhancer
- I got this eons ago and still love it very very much! It gives off this super pretty glow to your skin without looking too shimmery. I used this to highlight my cheekbones!

2) Garnier Light BB Eye Roll on
- Under eye concealer

3) L'Oreal True Match Foundation in Golden Vanilla

4) MAC blush in Fleur Power

5) MAC MSF Sunny in Nature
- I love this product!! I like that it's not too dark so I can use it all over my face as a bronzer without worrying about it making me look sun burnt! But this time I just used it to lightly contour my face especially around the erm.. double chin area lol

On my lips I'm wearing the ever trustable Revlon ColorBurst lipstick in Peach!

Garnier BB Eye Roll-On

I've been wanting to get my hands on Garnier's BB Eye Roll-on every since I saw it on Guardian's shelves but I never got around to buy it until recently. Mainly because I already have one sitting at home which is the regular yellow packaging clear Roll-on for the eyes. I love it to bits and I use it twice a day everyday just for that cooling effect. I heard that it's supposed to make the eyes look less puffy and brighten the under-eye area at the same time.

Anyways, I decide to get the BB Eye Roll-on in the end because I can't stand staring at it every single time I visit Guardian. #nolife

Garnier BB Eye Roll-on

I'm not so sure why they are calling it BB. Perhaps they wanted to be associated with the popular BB Creams in the market and thought the product might sell easier with the label 'BB' plastered on the product. Why not jump on the bandwagon too right? haha Anyways, I don't think the product comes with SPF in it, there are no mention of sun-protecting ingredients on the packaging.
Benefits and uses of the product
The Light and Light BB Eye Roll-on

The obvious difference between these two is that one is clear and another is tinted. I use the BB Eye Roll-on on days when I have to put makeup on just to brighten up my dark circles. I like how light the product feels on my skin and it also blends into my skin quite well!

I guess the one thing about this product that I'm not entirely fond of is that the application area gets quite messy with each use. Also I have to make sure that my face is clean prior to using this because this is a roll-on product and God knows how many times I have to use this stick over and over again on my face till it runs out. Better to be safe than sorry!

Before and after using the product

I've read some reviews saying that this product dries their skin out but it works fine for me. I don't have sensitive skin and normally don't break out from using makeup products so I guess I'm lucky lol I now prefer using this than any other concealers for my under-eye area because it's easy to apply, easy to blend and is cooling on my skin! This is also good for me because I don't have very serious dark circles so I don't need heavy coverage concealers.

Overall I think this is worth the money I paid for! I got this for roughly B$13. I have been using the regular light Roll-on for quite some time now and there's still some product left in it so I know it's gonna last me a long time. Plus with this BB Roll-on a little goes a long way!
